Building networks between business and science in Europe and Africa

Updated: Jul 16, 2020

In February 2020, Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg received over 180 science and business professionals at its Sankt-Augustin campus. During the 1.5-day conference, participants of the 8th conference "Universities, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development in Africa" (UEED Africa) exhanged ideas on topics related to entrepreneurship in Africa, the promotion of African and German SMEs in Africa, and the training and recruitment of qualified personnel. The conference provided an opportunity for african scientist to present their research, meet colleagues from other universities in Africa, forge both academic and industry partnerships and interact with African startups. The next UEED Africa conference will be in 2021 and will be held at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

The conference was part of the project “Building Expertise and Training for growth in the consumer goods and food processing industries in Ghana” (BET-Ghana), which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The project is jointly implemented by the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, Germany, and the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
